    • I'll be at the National Poetry Slam in Austin, TX. My official schedule is as follows:
      • Thursday, August 11th - I'll be doing the Slam & the Academy Panel from 12:00-1:30 in the Hideout Classroom w/ Susan B.A. Somers-Willett, Daphne Gottlieb, Jeffrey McDaniel, & Marty McConnell.
      • Friday, August 12th - I'll be doing two events back-to-back: The Women's Poetry Showcase from 12:00-1:30 in the Hideout Theater, then I'll be teaching the 30 Publishing Tips for Slam Poets Workshop from 1:30-2:15 in the Hideout Classroom.

    • Scorpionica (one of my mss in-progress) just won the Hopwood Award in Poetry at the University of Michigan. Past winners of this award include Robert Hayden, John Ciardi, Frank O'Hara, Marge Piercy, Nancy Willard, X.J. Kennedy, Jane Kenyon, Ronald Wallace, Laura Kasischke and Keith Waldrop.  These poets (and many others) are featured in new book which commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Hopwood Program: The Hopwood Award: 75 Years of Prized Writing. There's also a great article on the Hopwood Program here. The Hopwood Awards Ceremony will take place on April 21st at 3:30 p.m. in Rackham Auditorium. This year's Hopwood Lecture will be given by Charles Baxter.

    • While at AWP, I ran into Gregory Donovan and Jeff Lodge, two of the editors of the fabulous online journal, Blackbird. They recorded audio files of both of the poems they published in their last issue: "Epistle to Elsner On the Eve of his 34th Birthday" and "Under the Volente Raft." The MP3s are now up and you can listen to them by clicking on "audio version" here and here.

    • I've just been awarded the Moveen Residency in Ireland through the University of Michigan. I'll be spending the month of May in the ancestral home of renowned poet and essayist Thomas Lynch in West Clare. While there, I plan to do lots of writing, lots of photography, lots of walking, and, yes, lots of beer drinking. Heavenly! In light of this recent turn of events, my April 5th reading at Crazy Wisdom has been moved to April 12th with Thomas Lynch as a special guest. Check my Calendar for more info.

    • Check out the new issue of Blue Fifth Review in which my poem "Shoalwood" appears. It's a special issue on the female perspective which includes Mp3s of several of the pieces, including my own. I'm particularly excited to have my work appear alongside such poetry luminaries as Marge Piercy and Dorianne Laux!

    • One of my poems appears in the Winter '06 issue of the Del Sol Review.
    • I now have two photo albums accessible from the nav bar: "Portraits" and "Photographs." The first is, as you would expect, portraits of people. The second is mostly urban decay & urban irony. Unfortunately, because of the way the way my albums are formatted, you'll have to click past all the older photos to get to the new stuff, but please do. I think you'll find it worth your while.
